The Rowes’ fabulous three-level home offers stunning views to both the city and the ocean from its prime position just several houses back from Seaview Road at West Beach.

Jodie and Stephen – best known as “Rowey” from the FIVEaa sports show Rowey & Timmy G – purchased the property in late 2017 after an extensive search to find the perfect location to build their dream home.

The Rowes had previously lived for many years at Henley Beach where the couple had raised their children Gemma, Victoria and James – SANFL premiership player and leading goal kicker, who was drafted to the Adelaide Crows in 2020.

“I’d been wanting to build this home for many years, but it took a long time for us to find the right spot,” says Jodie.

“We were very particular about what we wanted and this block ticked all of our boxes including a north-facing backyard.”

Jodie designed the new home in collaboration with Beechwood Homes who executed the stunning build with a focus on space for family living.

They bulldozed the old home in 2018 before building and moving into the new property in late 2019.

Now, Stephen and Jodie are selling to pursue their next project.

“We’ve got the bug now, so we’re looking our next challenge,” says Jodie.

“We want to be ready to pounce on something when it comes up – we want to be a bit more prepared than last time.

“It’s been a lovely family home and we will be sad to leave but hopefully we’ll get to do it all again.”

With a long-held interest in interior decorating, Jodie designed much of the stunning interiors drawing on her love of Queenslander architecture.

“I’ve always loved the old Queenslanders and I wanted to bring that inspiration to a home in Adelaide. I think they work beautifully for our climate,” she says.

“As far as the interiors, I wanted a coastal feel with a little bit of British colonial style.

“It also has some Hamptons and Raffles Singapore vibes, and I love the dark floors that contrast against the white.”

The family has appreciated spending time together in the home’s many living spaces, lounging and entertaining around the pool, and taking long walks and bike rides along the beach.

“Stephen’s a bit of a homebody. He likes coming home, going for walks and bike rides, and having a spa,” says Jodie.

“Our son has the lowest space that has another living area and his bedroom and opens out to the al fresco and the pool.

“We’ve got a little pool house that tends to be where the parties happen – we love entertaining, having friends over and hosting Christmas every year.

“We’ve enjoyed lots of pool days and during COVID it was a lovely space to be locked down, so we were quite lucky.”

The house is appointed with separate living spaces that allow for separation between family members, but also caters for entertaining.

The top floor is designed as the master suite with a bedroom, living space, ensuite and balcony.

“It’s worked so well for our family. We’ve got three adult children and they’ve all got their spaces in the house,” says Jodie.

The bespoke kitchens and bathrooms carry Jodie’s touch with Hamptons and British Colonial influence as well as a touch of luxury, particularly in the master ensuite.

“I’ve taken elements from lots of lots of things that I love and moulded it all together,” says Jodie.

The family has relished their time living at West Beach, which is often quieter than the hot spot of nearby Henley Beach.

The suburb will soon enjoy a brand new surf lifesaving club, currently under construction.

“We’ve spent many Sunday afternoons down at the surf club and it’ll be lovely for all the people in this area when they’ve finished building the new one,” says Jodie.

“I’ll definitely miss the space and the beautiful views here. I don’t think I could live in a property now that doesn’t have some kind of view.”
