What’s on: Reclink Cup, Saint Ignatius’ College Art Show and opera

Whether its sport, art or culture, there is plenty happening across the first weekend of August.

More than a game

Charity football match, the Reclink Cup is back again on Sunday, August 4 at Coopers Stadium, Norwood. Musicians (The Rockatoos) will line up against media personalities (The Anchors) to benefit Reclink Australia – last year’s game raised more than $20,000 for the community’s most disadvantaged.

Talent on show

More than 80 established and emerging South Australian artists will show their work for the Saint Ignatius’ College Art Show, held at the school. Celebrations for the biennial event begin on Friday, August 9, with the Opening Night Party, and conclude on August 11. On show will be fine paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture and jewellery. Part of the SALA Festival, the event will once again feature work from Kaltjiti Arts, a community-based art centre in the APY Lands. New this year is the unique work of featured artist Yuro Cuchor. Along with the exhibition, there will be artist talks, demonstrations, music, a cafe and a bar over the weekend.

Thought provoking opera

This intimate and thought-provoking work will be directed by Nicholas Cannon and stars mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Campbell as the middle-aged Christina.
