Get close to nature
If you’re looking for a way to entertain the children these school holidays, check out the new Variety Children’s Zoo at Adelaide Zoo. The $1.1 million precinct has goats, chickens, quokkas, rabbits, guinea pigs and other animals, accessible via new pathways and aerial walkways for all abilities and ages. The area is located next to the nature playground, with a cafe nearby.
Free-range art
Art in the Sticks will bring visitors to working organic beef property Cluain near Lucindale on October 5 and 6. This year’s theme of regeneration will feature an eclectic collection of works, including paintings, sculpture, photography, jewellery, furniture, textiles and wearable art, across shearer’s quarters, shearing platforms, paddocks and beside a dam. Visitors can take advantage of artists’ “walk and talks”, workshops, readings, a long lunch, local wines and boutique beers.
Ceduna celebrates
Celebrity chef Mark Olive will be at this year’s Oysterfest, from October 4 to 6 at Ceduna. The event will feature village markets, live entertainment and fireworks, as well as a Feast of the Gods dinner and an Oysters and Wine Soiree.
