Fur-ever friends

With over 1100 animals currently in their care, the RSPCA is hosting an adopt-a-thon from Friday, February 11 to Sunday, February 13 to find forever homes for their loving furballs. Visit one of the three RSPCA shelters, RSPCA Petville or a participating Petbarn store to take home a lifelong friend. Bookings are now open to meet most of the animals, helping you find the perfect pairing for your family and give a rescue animal a second chance at a loving home.

Dancing queens

Mary’s Poppin will be presenting The Queens Gala on Saturday, February 12, bringing together the dancing queens of Queer Adelaide, their friends and allies to raise money for Beyond Blue. Held in The Great Hall on North Terrace, the night of glitz and glamour will start with red carpet arrivals and include a line-up of world-class drag superstars serving up entertainment galore with a side of delicious drinks and canapes. The party isn’t over when the gala ends, with an exclusive after-party kicking off at Mary’s Poppin.

Winery secrets

Discover the hidden secrets of Hardy’s Tintara this month on a guided tour of one of South Australia’s oldest wineries. Tours are conducted every Sunday and Monday at 11am, unearthing the stories of the historic McLaren Vale site, where Hardys wine is still made today. Visitors can see vintage in action from the winery’s viewing platform and take in the enormous Moreton Bay Fig Tree, which is rumoured to be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.

Happy hearts

Support the Health Research Foundation this month by donning your brightest red clothing for Red Feb. Wearing the colour and donating to the cause helps raise awareness of the prevalence of heart disease and funds medical research.

Untold stories

The Adelaide Festival Centre will be welcoming patrons back from Saturday, February 12, with an exhibition about the venue’s untold stories. Expressed through artworks and objects from Adelaide Festival Centre’s Works of Art Collection and Performing Arts Collection the exhibition provides an insight into the performers, artists, and those behind the scenes who work tirelessly to make the theatre what it is today.
