This weekend, get out and about for a good cause as Marina Pink takes over Glenelg's Marina Pier, or witness the timeless masterpiece that is Swan Lake at the Festival Theatre.

Tickled pink

This October, Glenelg’s Marina Pier will turn every shade of pink to raise funds for the Flinders Foundation to support breast cancer research and create awareness of the disease. Whether linguini or cocktails, each restaurant on the Marina will turn something on their menu pink for the month, and many events will pop up along the foreshore. Highlights of Marina Pink include a “Paint and Sip” session at Sunset Bar on October 12; morning yoga at Luciano’s on the Marina on October 15; a pink-infused high tea at The Wharf on October 22; and a “Feed Me Feast” with Mr Riggs at Seafire on the Marina on October 26. Timeless masterpiece

The Australian Ballet is presenting a reiteration of Anne Woolliams’s 1977 production of the timeless classic Swan Lake as the centrepiece for the company’s 60th anniversary celebrations. “It is a fitting moment to create a classical version of Swan Lake – one that will stand proud as a choreographically modern representation of The Australian Ballet, further elevate our artistic and technical excellence, and stand the test of time for decades to come,” says artistic director David Hallberg. “With lavish new sets and costumes, this is a Swan Lake that audiences will come to again and again.” Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will accompany the production, performing Tchaikovsky’s poignant composition. Swan Lake will be performed at Adelaide Festival Centre’s Festival Theatre from October 7 to 14 before heading to Brisbane.

Me time

From October 6 to 8 take some time for yourself and unwind at WellFest Adelaide. Breathe in deeply and stretch it out with a guided yoga session, pamper yourself with a luxury wellness spa treatment, learn how to put together a fast, fresh and fabulous meal that will nourish your body and mind, or engage in a new skill with archery “come and try”, paint and sip workshops, and pottery classes. With more than 50 events across the three-day wellness festival, there are many ways to revive, de-stress and restore.

Under the big top

Death-defying feats, aerial acrobatics, clowning antics and BMX stunts will mesmerise audiences under the big top as The Great Moscow Circus returns to South Australia for the first time in almost six years. Performers from Armenia, Ukraine, Brazil, Colombia, Greece, New Zealand and Australia are touring together under The Great Moscow Circus banner with the new show – Extreme – wowing the young and young-at-heart. The Circus is in Bonython Park until October 15 when it heads to Ridley Reserve in Elizabeth from October 19 to 29 and finally Mount Barker from November 2 to 5.

Showtime

Spend a weekend away from the city and enjoy a family day out at the annual Burra Show on Saturday, October 7. Browse the competition displays showing off everything from floral art and fresh produce to scrapbooking and photography – even teddy bears and scarecrows. Check out the farm animals with livestock judging, horses in action and sheep shearing. Thrill-seekers can get their hearts pumping on the show rides while a fashion parade shows off the latest styles. As the day comes to an end, marvel as fireworks light up the springtime sky.
