Gather round, again

The highly successful Gather Round: A Festival of Footy, returns from April 4 to 7 for a jam-packed four days of football as 18 teams arrive in South Australia. Gather Round kicked off on Thursday night as the Crows faced Melbourne at Adelaide Oval, while Port Adelaide will go up against Essendon on Friday night. While the majority of games will take place at Adelaide Oval, regional South Australia will be given a boost on April 6 and 7 as West Coast plays Sydney at Mount Barker, before Gold Coast takes on GWS. There will also be two games played at Norwood Oval. You can also relax at the Food and Wine Festival in Norwood, enjoy 10 per cent off at the Prohibition Gin bar with your game ticket, experience the numerous Gather Round activations in Rundle Mall, watch a live cooking demonstration from Melbourne player Christian Petracca at the Central Market, or check out the free Footy Festival in Elder Park.

Razor-sharp political satire

For more than 20 years, The Wharf Revue has delivered razor-sharp political satire to audiences around the country. Now, it’s Adelaide’s turn to enjoy this national treasure. Join Jonathan Biggins and the Revue team as they step into the Adelaide spotlight with this year’s new production, Pride in Prejudice. Featuring a line-up of characters including Albo, Jacqui Lambie, Joe Biden, Sussan Ley and Peter Dutton, and riffing off shows including Q&A, Play School and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific, this show is the quintessential takedown of Australia’s most well-known pollies. Pride in Prejudice takes place at Dunstan Playhouse from April 8 to 13.

Classic boats on the Yorke Peninsula

Yorke Peninsula’s Saltwater Classic provides a great opportunity to experience the timeless craftsmanship of wooden and classic boats in one of South Australia’s most popular tourism districts. Joining the fleet will be South Australia’s tall ship One & All and the Sydney to Hobart maxi yacht Brindabella. There is also plenty to do on shore, with award-winning seaside markets, fascinating displays, entertainment from the Royal Australian Navy Band and displays of classic cars and caravans. Yorke Peninsula’s Saltwater Classic takes place from April 13 to 14 at Stansbury and Port Vincent.

The King rolls into town

Known simply as “The King”, Elvis Presley had a singular impact on the popular culture of the 1950s and continues to excite fans to this day. Elvis: A Musical Revolution, is now showing at Her Majesty’s Theatre for a celebration of this extraordinary cultural icon. Featuring more than 40 hit songs including Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock and Can’t Help Falling in Love, this musical tells the story of those who knew him best: from his childhood in Mississippi to his failed marriage to Priscilla and his triumphant 1968 comeback. Elvis: A Musical Revolution will be shown until April 28.

Contemporary sculptures at Stangate

Sculpture For Interiors and Gardens, presented by the Rotary Club of Stirling, will open at Stangate House and Garden this Saturday, April 6 from 11:00am. Now in its sixth year, this biennial exhibition curated by Quentin Gore features 21 sculptors whose creations will be spread across Stangate. This free exhibition takes place daily from 11am to 5pm until April 14.
