ADL Fashion Week and Mental Health Month
Dressed to the nines
Discover the latest fashion trends as the 2024 ADL Fashion Week arrives in town from October 11 to 13. This year’s event offers 30 events covering everything from fashion to beauty, arts, food and the creative industries. Rundle Mall hosts the three-day festival, with extended trading hours, shopping offers, prizes, in-store events and pop-ups. A highlight of this year’s ADL Fashion Week is the introduction of the Icons Only campaign, which acknowledges “individuals who have contributed to the rich tapestry of both the city and its fashion scene”.
Say cheese
CheeseFest, dubbed Australia’s original and biggest cheese festival, is returning on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October with a brie-lliant line of makers, chefs and producers including Matt Preston, Warren Mendes, Callum Hann, Mandy Hall and Gaetan Chapon from Long Paddock Cheese. Held at Rundle Park/Kadlitpina, CheeseFest will see some of South Australia’s best cheeses, food producers, chefs and beverages come together in more than 80 stalls. Attendees can indulge in different cheeses, watch free demonstrations and join masterclasses that deepens their understanding of cheese and wine, including a program highlight with First Nations winemaker Paul Vandenbergh. Tarnanthi Art Fair
Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists this October at the Art Gallery of South Australia’s ninth Tarnanthi Art Fair. Taking place from Friday, October 18 to Monday, October 21, the 100 per cent online event offers a chance to buy works from and connect with First Nations artists across the country. Tarnanthi Art Fair includes thousands of works for sale, from paintings to ceramics, sculpture, woven objects, jewellery, textiles, clothes and homewares. Since 2015, more than $8.1 million worth of art has been sold through Tarnanthi Art Fair, directly benefiting artists and community-run art centres.
The healing power of art
This Mental Health Month, explore artwork and writing by South Australians living with mental health challenges at the 2024 mindshare exhibition. Taking place at Adelaide City Library, Hutt St Library and North Adelaide Community Centre until October 31, this exhibition highlights the positive impact art has on our mental health. Exhibitions from NEAMI Arts, Skylight and Living Arts will be on display at these locations during opening hours.
Variety Moto Run 2024

Taking place from Tuesday, October 15 through to Friday, October 18, this fundraiser supports South Australian kids and families who are facing challenges such as sickness, disadvantage or barriers associated with disability.
Sea to Shore
Head to the bay for the Sea to Shore Glenelg Seafood Festival and experience the state’s finest seafood offerings. Now in its third year, the 2024 Sea to Shore festival has been curated by Adelaide restauranteur and MasterChef alumnus Laura Sharrad, with everything from fresh seafood dished created by South Australian chefs, to cooking demonstrations and pairings with local wine and gin. Among the producers you can expect to see are That Thai Guy (Soi38), Kuti Shack, Oyster Bar Holdfast Shores, Anchovy Bandit, Fair Seafood, Oliveti, Braising Boy and The Afishonado and Paul Polacco. Another highlight of the festival is the Sea to Shore Long Lunch, when renowned chefs Laura Sharrad, Shannon Fleming and Max Sharrad team up to present a curated seafood menu on the Glenelg Jetty, which will be transformed for the first time ever with a 63-metre-long table. This year’s Sea to Shore will take place over two days from 11am on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October, with free entry.

Make your way to the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Space Theatre this weekend for Moss Piglet. This new production by Windmill Theatre company takes you to the world of the tiny creature known for its resilience – moss piglets have survived multiple extinction events and thrive in the most extreme conditions on Earth. This performance is suitable for children and shows from October 11 to 13 and 19 to 20.
