Premium SAHOMES: Hahndorf Hamptons luxury for sale

Built by hand and perfect for a growing family, this glamorous Hills property has space and views that will be hard to leave.

Daniel Parry literally built the luxurious, four-bedroom home he lives in with wife Jessie and their children Sebastian, three, and Zach, six months.

Daniel co-owns DS Carpentry Group and he built the impressive Hamptons-style home on Hahndorf’s River Road along with Heritage Building Group. Now, however, Daniel and Jessie have decided to downsize from the five-acre property they have called home for the past three years.

“It’s the hardest decision we’ve ever made, but we are ready to move on to the next challenge and maybe buy an old cottage that we can renovate,” Jessie says.

“I’m from the Hills and once a Hills kid always a Hills kid, so we will look around this area, but places don’t come up much.”

The stunning home features weatherboard-style cladding, 3.3m-high ceilings, floating oak floors and plenty of space.

The light, open plan living area is the heart of the home and features a cathedral-style ceiling, bi-fold doors and a servery window leading out to the decked alfresco pavilion. Off the living area are a study, sitting room and two opposing wings – one for parents and one for kids.“We started this build from scratch so we had the freedom to put the house anywhere and it has the most amazing northern aspect,” Jessie says.

“The open space of our living area is just unbelievable, the amount of sun that pours in here even on a winter’s day is just so nice. I often just look out the window and think, it doesn’t get any better than this.”

Nearly every space – including the custom-built cubby house – has a view to the country surrounds which includes a dam.

The vast expanse of flat lawn was included in the design so the boys could play plenty of sport, Jessie says. “Daniel has a ride-on mower and he loves doing the lawns,” she says. “It’s his downtime, and he’ll listen to footy or cricket. I think he finds it quite therapeutic.”

A long, winding driveway leads to the tucked-away home, which is only a 20-minute walk from Hahndorf town centre. Other features include a double garage, double-glazed windows, rainwater capacity of 115,000 litres and an 8KW solar system. “We are open to whatever happens next but it is definitely going to be very hard to leave,” Jessie says.

The home is being handled by Harris Real Estate agents Arabella Hooper and Will Scott. Best offers by 12pm Wednesday, July 31, unless sold prior.
