Personal Shopper – Burnside Village for Mother’s Day

Each Friday our Personal Shopper segment brings you the best options for exercising your wallet over the weekend. This week, Burnside Village has all your last-minute Mother’s Day needs covered.

Mother’s Day is just two days away, but many South Australians still need to procure a pressie for mum before this Sunday, May 12.

Whether picking up a gift or taking mum out shopping on Sunday, Burnside Village has you covered with flowers, gift wrapping and around 100 specialty and fashion stores.

Marketing manager Renée Tiller says Burnside Village Flowers is preparing for its busiest trading day of the year, next to Valentine’s Day. “Obviously flowers are huge for Mother’s Day, then gift cards.

“If you can’t think of anything a gift card is a great option because it gives your mum a gift of her choice.”

Throughout May, Burnside Village will be donating 10 per cent of gift card proceeds to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation. Gift wrapping at the centre (near Cibo Espresso) is available for a gold coin donation, which also goes to the foundation. The gift wrapping station will be open on Friday until 4pm, and on Saturday from 11am to 4pm.

Renée is an expert on Mother’s Day shopping and has plenty of tips for finding the right gift. She advises checking out Burnside Village’s specialty stores such as Harry Hartog Bookseller, which is a recent addition to the centre. For fashionable diaries, journals, planners and other gifts, head to kikki.K, while endota spa is a winner for skincare products and massage vouchers.

If you know your mother’s style, Burnside Village is well-known as a standout for fashion and accessories. “Firstly I’d suggest Zara, which is fantastic with different price points and a range of styles for mum – from casual to corporate or dressier occasions and sportswear. And they’ve got a great range of accessories,” Renée says.

“You can’t go wrong with Seed. They’ve got an amazing range of casual and dressier items. Then I love Tommy Hilfiger, they have a great range of accessories, T-shirts and jumpers.”

On Sunday, Burnside Village’s two restaurants, Shanghai Tea House and LaCucina, will serve up special three-course Mother’s Day menus (bookings are a must). LaCucina’s menu includes main course choices of garlic prawns, charcoal grilled chicken salad or lamb cutlets, for $59.90 per person.

Shanghai Tea House also features three courses, with mains including stir-fried beef, roast king prawn, sizzling Mongolian chicken, crispy barramundi and Chinese broccoli, for $49 per head.

“Or if you are taking mum out for a day shopping, we’ve got our retail outlets and plenty of takeaway cafes and food options such as Cibo and Roll’d.”

The centre is open today until 5.30pm, on Saturday 9am to 5pm and also on Sunday from 11am to 5pm, with Burnside Village ambassadors roaming and giving out chocolates and flowers.
