This weekend South Australian wine merchants are holding major one-off sales, while other producers are putting on tastings and winter parties. Find a bargain and enjoy some top drops along the way.

BRIGHTEN UP YOUR WINTER

An annual wine tasting and sale, Bright Moments will be held at Grenfell Street venue Roxie’s and Chateau Apollo this Sunday, June 30, with a line-up of local boutique producers pouring out some new winter-release wines. A $20 ticket will get you four hours — noon to 4pm — with a tasting glass to wander, chat and taste through the different wines on offer, direct from the winemakers. All wines will be available to purchase by the glass or bottle to take away at cellar door prices. The fires in the garden will be roaring, music will be supplied by DJs Felicity and bwise, and the food will be provided by Comida.

DROP INTO KING WILLIAM ROAD

Food and Wine Sessions on King William Road runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 9.30pm each day. On Friday night, Bottega Rotolo will host a tasting and sale of Italian Wines. The Food and Wine Sessions also include workshops, degustation menus and dining specials.

NEW WINE IN THE EAST END

East End Cellars has a special on new release wines from Ox Hardy, made by renowned McLaren Vale winemaker Andrew Hardy using grapes from the Hardy’s Upper Tintara Vineyard. The Ox Hardy 1891 Ancestor Vine Shiraz 2008 is on sale for $200, and the Upper Tintara Shiraz 2016 for $35.

WAREHOUSE WINE SALE

Lyndoch’s Schild Estate will host its Warehouse Wine Sale over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 4pm each day. It will be the warehouse’s largest ever wine sale, with premium wines, museum stock, award winners, reserve wines, red, white and sparkling at low prices. Schild Estate is located at 1095 Barossa Valley Way, Lyndoch.

MILLION DOLLAR DROP

Skye Cellars Norwood will hold its biggest wine sale to date, with its Million Dollar Warehouse Sale on Friday and Saturday, 9am to 5pm. More than $1 million worth of stock will be on sale. The wines will be heavily discounted and up to 75 per cent off RRP. Skye Cellars is located at 578 The Parade, Auldana.

WINTER WINE PARTY

Located in a converted heritage-listed church at Bowden, Oddio wine bar will host the Oddio Winter Party this Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30, with wine, live music and pizza from Sunny’s. Home to producers Frederick Stevenson, Delinquente Wine Co and Giovanni Armani Giorgio, Oddio is a winery, cellar door, bar and event space. There will be new, never-before-seen wines from Frederick Stevenson and Delinquente Wine Co, including some warming reds and spritzy bubbles. Live music will be provided by Seabass as part of Guitars in Bars. Saturday, 4pm to 1am, and then on Sunday, 2pm to 9pm.

IN THE MARKET FOR WINE?

The pop-up Adelaide Wine Markets will be held Saturday, June 29, at the Market Shed on Holland, located at 1 Holland Street, Adelaide. Tickets are $30, giving you a tasting glass and access to tastings and sales from 25 small and boutique South Australian producers, with wine, gin, cider and beer, from 5pm to 10pm. A masterclass will be hosted by the winemakers from Jack West and Lienert Wines. Learn about Never Never Distilling Co’s gin in a workshop where you can build three of your own cocktails while snacking on a Cheese-a-holics platter.

A RIOT IN A CAN

Riot Wine Co will hold a tasting at St Peters Cellars this Saturday, June 29, from 3pm to 6pm, featuring their wine in a can. The event will be hosted by winemaker and co-founder Tom O’Donnell at the corner of Stephen Terrace and Sixth Avenue, St Peters. Sample the sparkling chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, rose and grenache. Buy a four pack and receive a bonus can of Riot Rose.
