Celebrating 50 Years of form, function and style

From a tin shed to the largest independent manufacturer of architectural windows and doors in South Australia, proudly featured on the cover of many SALIFE magazines and award-winning homes.

South Pacific was founded in 1973 by the modest and hardworking George Efstathiadis. Like most migrants of his generation, he knew no English. However, a mastermind in mechanics and hydraulics, he understood his strengths and weaknesses and complemented them with people around him who he trusted.

The business started from a tiny shed in the family home’s backyard in Edwardstown and expanded with steady organic growth. This eventually required the family home to make way for a new factory and showroom.

In 1992, South Pacific moved into a much larger purpose-built new building directly next door. Since then, the manufacturing facility has continued to grow and evolve into a leading supplier in the housing industry.

South Pacific has seen many challenges over the 50 Years, including tumultuous periods of high interest rates, global recessions and, most recently, the COVID-19 health pandemic.

Rapid changes have also been significant and challenging – from responding to ever-changing building codes, to energy efficiency and performance requirements. We needed to be agile to both survive and grow as a trusted supplier to a long-standing customer base of builders and repeat owner builders.

Early on, we manufactured typical standard aluminium windows. Now, we have evolved and specialise only in architectural windows and doors for mid-to high end new homes and additions, which seamlessly integrate our premium products.

As the business has expanded, we have been fortunate enough to retain, develop and promote key talent from within the business. Our loyal staff have been instrumental in our success. More than half have been with the company for over 10 years, with some nearing over 40 years.

A business to be proud of, our workplace is flexible, accessible and inclusive. So, everyone feels valued, empowered and happy to be a part of South Pacific, and we can attract and retain likeminded talent.

The great thing about building a house is the ability to make it a home. It can be a place in which you can take pride and comfort and a place to celebrate with family and friends. Today, for many, it has even become an office due to the aftermath of COVID.

At South Pacific, we don’t just sell windows and doors. We ask a lot of questions, assess and take an interest in helping to create a functional, comfortable and stylish look for your home with our extensive range of architectural windows and doors proudly made in Adelaide.

The late George Efstathiadis left a legacy – he was respected, admired and helped to pioneer products and processes in the industry. While a third generation of our family grows the company even further, our family’s passion, pride and innovation will underpin our belief in ourselves for the next 50 years.

As we celebrate this milestone, a vibrant, fresh and modern new logo has been rolled out to capture our commitment to to refine form, function and style.
