New memories to be made at iconic Playford

The latest restaurant and bar addition to Adelaide’s CBD promises patrons something special no matter the time of day.

Luma Restaurant and Bar is  the centre-piece of the $25 million dollar upgrade of Adelaide’s original five-star boutique hotel, The Playford, a member of the MGallery Collection (by Accor) located at 120 North Terrace.

The pinnacle of this exciting new venue is the must see magnificent 800m handcrafted light sculpture, an Australian one-off art piece that took four weeks to install. The dimmable wavelike structure with soft Art Nouveau lines – themed around the hotel’s logo – sets the tone for Luma throughout the day and night.

Open from breakfast through to late night drinks, Luma’s stunning décor is based on the elegant Art Nouveau era for which hotel is famed. It exudes a timeless style and sophistication that is simply stunning and unlike anywhere else in Adelaide.   

A combination of tables, comfortable booths and lounges provide welcoming gathering spaces for small to large groups for meals, meetings and after work or pre-dinner drinks. Luma is a perfect place to meet at any time.

Luma’s Restaurant, under award winning Executive Chef Kevin Martel featuring a fabulous share-inspired menu is a love note to European dining. Its bold flavours, colours and locally sourced organic ingredients are prepared using both classic techniques and interpretive cooking methods. 

Luma is open from first light to late night

Traditionally noted for its breakfast, Luma continues the Playford Hotel’s custom of welcoming both hotel guest and visitors to its famous buffet.

Throughout the day, fresh brewed coffee and exquisite pastries are on offer, which are perfect for social gatherings or business meetings.  

Lunch at Luma comprises a wonderful choice from shared plates to a special express lunch menu for those in with time constraints.

As the day turns toward dusk it’s Aperitivo time where the cocktails flow and pre-dinner bar snacks are served. Luma’s unique cocktail urn is a fantastic way to share a special moment with friends.

Dinner at Luma is an experience. Kevin Martel’s  signature Luma Canard for two with  crispy honey roasted duck breast; confit duck legs; pulled duck tart with mushroom, local rhubarb chutney and foie gras jus is considered to be among the best in the world by some in the know. The next level desserts at Luma are works of art in themselves. The Bombe Alaska – set alight at the table – is a memorable way to conclude a wonderful evening.
