The Enchanted Fig Tree is back in business

After a very challenging two years, the team at The Enchanted Fig Tree on Kangaroo Island will open their 2022-23 season on the 5th September with a focus on connecting guests back to a sense of wonder, magic, and smiles.

After a two-year hiatus, the Enchanted Fig Tree located on Kangaroo Island will open their 2022-23 season on 5 September.

The Enchanted Fig Tree is one of Kangaroo Islands most famous dining hotspots, with dining availability within the gnarled limbs and shimmering leaves of the fig tree.

The Enchanted Fig Tree was planted 120 years ago as a food source for the first settlers of Kangaroo Island.

Since then, it has grown into a two-story high tree, with its circumference spanning larger than two 50-seater buses parked together which was then transformed into the dining experience it is today.

This season’s focus is based on connecting guests back to a sense of wonder, magic, and smiles and bringing these fantasies back into everyday people’s lives.

Creator, owner and operator of Gastronomo Wilderness Dining Events, Nick Hannaford will facilitate the dining experience, focusing on taking people out of their everyday lives and into a world full of wonderful flavours and tastes.

With more than 30 years’ experience producing corporate events all around Australia, Nick has cooked for the likes of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall.

“The Enchanted Fig Tree is a dining experience in a venue that is not equalled anywhere else in the world,” Nick says.

Unlike other years, this year the Enchanted Fig Tree will be open for starlight dinners with lighting inspired by the magic of the Southern Stars.

To highlight this, talented chefs such as Stephanie Vass, John Stamatakis and Alana Brabin will create their signature special dishes or flavours which will be inspired by their favourite fairy tale.

The evening will begin for guests from a secret pre-dining drinks location, with welcome gin cocktails supplied by beverage partners Kangaroo Island Spirits.

Guests will learn about Kangaroo Island’s history, foraged foods and the island’s colourful personalities, past and present.

“Like a fairy-tale, the Enchanted Fig Tree sounds like a fantastical creation that might be featured in an Enid Blyton or Dr Seuss book, however this impressive tree, sitting by the seaside, is no fictional story,” the team says.

The Enchanted Fig Tree is also open for lunch from Thursdays to Mondays during spring and summer.

The lunch menu consists of an assortment of tasting courses featuring local Kangaroo Island and South Australian produce, with local wines and beverages available for purchase.
