Personal shopper: Eat your way through Vardon Avenue

Take a well-earned break after a day shopping in the city’s East End stores and boutiques.

When your feet are tired from walking and your arms are heavy with Rundle Street shopping bags, duck down Vardon Avenue and you’ll find a spot to cosy up inside Mother Vine. Wines are available by the bottle, glass or half pour/taste.

Maras Group’s Sara Della Verde recommends asking the staff for some tips to create your own tasting flight to match the selection of Asian-fusion tapas. “The kingfish sashimi is my personal favourite – fresh, flavoursome – a summer lover’s mid-winter fix to forget the cold outside,” Sara says.

Stay for dinner and check out newly opened Yiasou George, part Mediterranean eatery and part bar. There’s a round of ouzo on the house for the lucky ones there are the right time each Friday, Saturday and Sunday. “House made pita bread from their wood fire oven and assorted dips are a must-try.”

Step into NOLA to peruse their extensive whisky and craft beer selection; a real crowd-pleaser, especially when paired with the house special NOLA Fried Chicken.

Over at Epicure Kitchen, the cocktails are always flowing – happy hour is from 4pm every day. The espresso martinis are always a crowd favourite, or try the “bartender’s choice seasonal spritz”, ahead of dinner at adjoining restaurant, Petrichor.
