Seven News presenter, Elspeth, and her future husband, Alastair, shared a fleeting kiss at a Melbourne pub in 2007, but didn’t reconnect until the onset of the Covid pandemic when Alastair was in lockdown in Sydney.

“I managed to convince him to move home to Adelaide and the rest is history,” Elspeth says. The bride saw a dress in an Italian Vogue magazine 15 years ago and she’s never looked at another gown. “Ann Chiristou from Rapsimo knew the design as well as the Mikado fabric, so we created our version of it over a period of five months.” Elspeth says the highlight of the reception was undoubtedly the speeches. “We cried and laughed a lot, particularly when Al’s best men refashioned the bar as a news desk and gave their speech as newsreaders. They recruited Rosanna Mangiarelli as a roving reporter to interview guests. It was hilarious.” The couple and their guests spent the next day playing croquet at the South Terrace Croquet Club for their recovery party.
