First meeting at school, former Port Adelaide star Orazio and Mikayla lost touch until they reconnected when the professional AFL player found Mikayla on social media.

While Mikayla wasn’t convinced to go on a date at first, Orazio, then playing for Essendon, was about to return to Melbourne and made a final plea. A coffee date at Sfizio on The Parade sealed the deal and they embarked on a long-distance relationship. The couple were later engaged while holidaying in Italy and they say their wedding day was incredibly special. “At the altar, as we met, nerves dissolved into an overwhelming sense of peace the instant our hands touched and our eyes locked,” Mikayla says. Orazio says the day was magical: “Having all our loved ones gathered in one place filled my heart with joy beyond measure. Every moment was perfect, and I couldn’t find a single fault in the day.”
