A traditional Finnish sauna and RSPCA’s Million Paws Walk

This weekend, relax in a traditional Finnish Sauna at Christies Beach, bring your four-legged friend to the Adelaide Botanic Garden for the RSPCA's Million Paws Walk, or enjoy a chardonnay in the Adelaide Hills.

A million reasons to walk

On Sunday, May 26, the RSPCA will be hosting its major fundraiser – the Million Paws Walk – at the Adelaide Botanic Garden as part of the fight against animal cruelty. It’s the event’s 30th anniversary, so bring your pooch to this family-friendly fun day and walk to raise money for our furry friends. The first group sets off at 9am, or if you’re a later riser, you can catch the last group at 11.30am. After the race, the Million Paws Walk Village will have food trucks, market stalls and festivities.

An authentic Finnish sauna experience

This weekend is your last chance to have an authentic Finnish sauna experience at The Salty Finn Sauna on the Christies Beach foreshore. This traditional timber-style sauna is the first of its kind in South Australia. Warm up in the löyly (sauna steam) before cooling off in the waters of Christies Beach. You can choose between a 60-minute communal sauna for up to six people or a private booking. Keep your eyes peeled, because a new location will be announced soon.

Historical botanical illustrations

This weekend, you can experience wonderfully detailed botanical illustrations at The Temple of Flora exhibition at Adelaide Botanic Garden’s Santos Museum of Economic Botany. This free exhibition is showing daily until June 30, featuring prints from the famous Temple of Flora book, rare botanical publications, and magnificent plant portraits.

Chardonnay May

We’ve all heard of Dry July, but have you heard of Chardonnay May? This weekend, indulge yourself with a chardy in the Adelaide Hills as wineries across the region host special tastings, themed lunches and dinners, as well as showcase special museum wines from the cellar and new releases. This weekend, you can try a chardonnay-infused dish at Longview Vineyard, head to Howard Vineyard for wine tasting, or enjoy scallops and Chardonnay from Hesketh Wiens and Grunthal Brew.

Helping those in need
