Dancing in the street
Join East End Cellars, Mothervine and Adelaide Hills gin distillery Square1 for a giant street party on Ebenezer Place this weekend. Friday 15 and Saturday 15 will see Vardon Avenue closed off as venues offer various specials alongside street food and entertainment. The street takeover will see Square1’s bar front and centre and will feature their signature gins, including Big Red and Unrind, as well as a gin spritz offering with their limited-release Bohemian Raspberry blend. Friday night will have DJ Hughs on the decks, while Saturday night’s DJ is yet to be confirmed. The Vardon Avenue Street takeover is free to enter and takes place on Friday, 15 and Saturday 16, December from 5pm to late.
Graduate art at ACSA
Students at the Adelaide Central School of Art (ACSA) have been busy creating their final artworks to be displayed at the 2023 Graduate Exhibition, the biggest student exhibition ever held at ACSA. On display will be the work of ACSA’s 39 newest graduates in art forms ranging from figurative and abstract painting to tapestry and ceramics, drawing, sculpture, embroidery and digital photography. There will even be a seven-metre-long crocheted dinosaur. The exhibition was postponed last week due to extreme weather forecasts, but it will now open on Saturday, December 16 from 4pm to 6pm and will continue until Friday, December 22. It will then reopen from January 2 to 5, 2024.
Gathered Christmas Market in Hahndorf
The Gathered Christmas Market at Hahndorf will take place from December 15 to 17. Get some Christmas shopping done, with more than 60 stalls to browse featuring homewares, candles, floristry, jewellery, art, clothing, kids’ goodies, garden supplies, skincare and more. The event was rescheduled from last week due to the extreme weather forecasts.
Christmas at the Adelaide Arcade
Gift wrapping, choir performances and a photo with Santa’s workshop await those who shop in Adelaide Arcade this Christmas. The abundance of Christmas activations will be revealed to shoppers across December to make the most of the festive season. Singers, including the Young Adelaide Voices, will add atmosphere until Sunday, December 17. Gift wrapping by donation also makes a return this year and is being run by volunteers from Minda, with all proceeds going to the organisation that helps people with disability. Shoppers are also encouraged to take photos with the famed Santa figure, the festive displays in the former tea rooms and the Arcade’s Christmas trees and hot air balloons, while kids can also explore the Christmas trail.
