City-Bay and Barossa Valley Spring Fair

This weekend, get on your running shoes for the Lumary City-Bay Fun Run, or head to the State Library for the 2024 Kennedy Prize.

50 years of the City-Bay

Get on your running shoes this Sunday for the 50th Lumary City-Bay Fun Run. An average of 26,000 people take part in the annual event, running or walking from the city to Glenelg. While most entrants choose to traverse the 12-kilometre route starting from King William Street, there are also shorter and longer distances to choose from too. The post-race festivities at Colley Reserve will include food and coffee trucks, as well as stalls from local businesses and charities.

A culinary excursion at SkyCity

Head to SkyCity this Thursday for a four-course progressive dinner across its four award-winning restaurants. Blending modern dining with cultural exploration, move from venue to venue, tasting each restaurant’s specialty cuisine including drink pairings with each course. From champagne and small plates at Madame Hanoi to dessert at Sôl, each course is crafted to showcase the unique culinary identity of SkyCity’s signature restaurants. The SkyCity Culinary Excursion is $169 per person and takes place every Thursday from 6:30pm.

World-class Grenache

The Grenache and Gourmet Festival returns to McLaren Vale this month, showcasing the premium wine of this picturesque region. This two-week celebration of McLaren Vale’s world-class Grenache wines, cuisine and local culture includes a wide variety of experiences, ranging from exclusive tastings to gourmet food and wine journeys and interactive masterclasses. This event is hosted by the McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association and runs from International Grenache Day on September 20 through to the October long weekend.

Bingeworthy K-drama

Grab your popcorn, because this Friday is your last chance to catch a free film as part of the Korean Film Festival’s 2024 touring program. The majestic Art Deco Regal Theatre in Kensington Park will host a screening of Kim Deok-min’s heart-warming drama Dog Days this Friday at 7:30pm. This will be followed by Kim Yong-gyun’s touching indie drama Picnic.

Fair’s Fair

Make your way to the Barossa Valley this Saturday for the Barossa Spring Fair. Located just an hour from the Adelaide CBD, the Barossa Valley is known for its premium wine and fine dining experiences. Established in 2021, The Barossa Spring Fair is a family fun and pet-friendly fun day with stalls, food and drink trucks, music, games and much more.

2024 Kennedy Prize

Pop into the State Library this Sunday from 1pm to 3:30pm for the 2024 Kennedy Prize exhibition. This year, Spanish-Australian visual artist Amaya Iturri took out the $25,000 prize for her portrait titled The Beauty of Now, “a bold portrait that celebrates ageing, wisdom and the beauty that comes with getting older”. The 2024 Kennedy Prize exhibition will run at the Royal South Australian Society of the Arts at the State Library until September 22.
