LIV Golf and Elvis come to town
Soaring golf balls
Golf balls will be soaring at the Grange Golf Club this weekend for LIV Golf – an international golfing festival like no other. The 54-hole game will have 13 teams of 52 players vie for the $4 million first-place jackpot. LIV Golf Adelaide will feature golfing legends Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson. This hole-in-one experience also includes sumptuous food, drinks, interactive activities at the Fan Village and live music at the Après Golf Concerts. LIV Golf takes place from April 26 to 28.
The King rolls into town
This weekend is your last chance to see Elvis: A Musical Revolution. Known simply as “The King”, Elvis Presley had a singular impact on the popular culture of the 1950s and he continues to excite fans to this day. The musical extravaganza at Her Majesty’s Theatre celebrates an extraordinary cultural icon. Featuring more than 40 hit songs including Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock and Can’t Help Falling in Love, this musical tells the story of Elvis through the eyes of those who knew him best: from his childhood in Mississippi to his failed marriage to Priscilla and his triumphant 1968 comeback. Elvis: A Musical Revolution ends on Sunday.
Designers assemble
Adelaide’s premier design market, Bowerbird, returns to the Adelaide Showgrounds from May 3 to 5. Bringing together more than 100 designers and makers from across Australia, there will be an abundance of fashion and accessories, crafts and toys, and furniture and housewares on offer. Between shopping, treat yourself to artisanal food and drinks as you soak up the atmosphere and enjoy live music, or you can sign up for a workshop and learn a new skill directly from the makers themselves. The design market is open from 4pm-9pm on Friday, May 3, and from 10am-5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
Autumnal wonder
Stangate House and Garden will transform this autumn for the Adelaide Hills Garden Affair. In its inaugural year, this one-day event on May 5 features all things gardening. From talks by experts to garden stalls or a tour of the spectacular autumn colour of this iconic Aldgate garden, this family-friendly event will appeal to both beginner and more experienced gardeners. You will also be able to buy a range of plants, garden supplies and garden decor from exhibiting garden clubs, plant societies and specialist nurseries. The Adelaide Hills Garden Affair is on Sunday, May 5 from 10am to 3pm.
A multicultural festival
Join South Australia’s Muslim community for the Adelaide Multicultural Eid Festival at the Adelaide Showground this weekend, marking the end of Ramadan – Islam’s holiest month. This festival will feature traditional food from over 20 countries, market stalls, live entertainment and rides in a family-friendly atmosphere. Savour some delicious hummus with falafel while you listen to the sound of the Middle Eastern Oud. The Adelaide Multicultural Eid Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
