Symphonic teamwork

The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra presents Idyllic Visions at Adelaide Town Hall on September 6 and 7. Conducted by Mark Wigglesworth and featuring pianist Stephen Hough, the piece reveals an intimate dialogue between soloist and orchestra. Symphonic in scope, Idyllic Visions incorporates four movements and a notoriously challenging piano part. Tickets include entry to a one-hour talk in the Meeting Hall, just behind the Town Hall.

Running with kangaroos

The KIC Kangaroo Island Marathon will feature runners from around the world and all across the country, on Saturday, September 7. This year, the event will relocate from Flinders Chase National Park to American River. The course will feature 50 per cent off-road trails, following the nature-based marathon trend.

It’s show time

The Adelaide Showgrounds will come alive with the Royal Adelaide Show, from August 30 to September 8. It’s a big year, with some significant milestones, including 50 years of the ferris wheel, 90 years of the CWA and 100 years of the Angus Society of Australia, which is the feature breed for beef cattle this year. There will be a full entertainment program over the 10 days, exhibitions, food, carnival attractions, showbags and fireworks.
