What’s On: Beachside bliss and summer refreshments

Get your dose of vitamin sea this weekend with events at Glenelg and Christies Beach, or take a trip to wine island.

Soak up the warm evenings at the Summer Twilight Markets at Rotary Park, Christies Beach, on Friday, January 15. Local stallholders will be selling their wares, including plants, jewellery, clothing and beauty products. Also on each day until January 26, pop-up bar SandBAR features local breweries, food trucks and live music. Featuring this weekend is music by Ben Whittington, The Beach Bums and Ben Smith, and food by RG’s Low & Slow and Smokin’ It Up. The markets continue fortnightly until the end of March.

Ready to refresh

The Wine Country team are hosting another wine party, this time on the Murlawirrapurka Rymill Park island, with Refreshment Island IV: Nature’s Island. The fourth edition of the series celebrating all things natural wine on January 16. The event runs from 1pm until 6pm and will showcase organic and biodynamic wine producers.

HIT THE BEACH

If you haven’t been along yet this summer, don’t miss out on The Moseley Beach Club on Glenelg’s foreshore, running through to March, 2021. More than 30,000 people visited the Beach Club last season and organisers are hoping to welcome more than 50,000 beach-goers into the outdoor venue this summer. Alongside the food offerings, beverage options feature iconic local brands such as Shaw & Smith, Pirate Life, Bird in Hand and The Lane. The Beach Club is free to enter, with a casual dining area including deckchairs, beanbags and picnic tables, as well as sun lounges and booths that must be pre-booked online.
