What’s On: Bowerbird, Carclew celebrations and racing

This weekend in Adelaide, indulge your need for speed at The Bend or celebrate Carclew's big birthday.

Designer dealings

Designer market Bowerbird will return to the Adelaide Showground from November 25 to 27. Twice a year, the market showcases the talent of Australia’s design community with a carefully-curated collection of artisan products including skincare, fashion, homewares, decorations and kids’ toys. Soak up the atmosphere on Friday night with live music and tasty treats and drinks from local producers while getting the first look at what’s on offer from this year’s line up of designers and makers. Spend Saturday and Sunday browsing the stalls and enjoying the food and beverage offerings, or attend a maker-guided workshop and let your creativity shine.

Carclew and you

South Australian not-for-profit arts organisation, Carclew is celebrating its 50th birthday on Saturday, November 16. Mirroring the official launch event of Carclew back in 1972, the historic North Adelaide will be open from 4 to 10pm with live music and entertainment to showcase the multi-arts programs that Carclew facilitates and the young creatives the organisation supports through funding and mentorship. An all-ages event to nurture fun and creativity, the whole family can get involved and soak up the sunshine on Carclew’s splendid grounds.

Need for speed

Round seven of the Mi-Bike Motorcycle Insurance ASBK Australian Superbikes Championship will take place at the Bend Motorsport Park in Tailem Bend from November 25 to 27. Being the final round of the 2022 championship, the event hosts an exciting line up of categories and will feature the crowning of the champions on the final day. Grab a suite and enjoy a weekend of local beer, wine and food while watching the action on the track.

Supporting school kids

This weekend, help Kickstart For Kids prevent period poverty in local schools by donating sanitary products to collection boxes in National Pharmacies stores as part of the Kickstart For Kids Against Period Poverty campaign. Through fundraising and the donation of sanitary products, Kickstart For Kids is delivering free sanitary products to South Australian primary and high schools in support of young girls experiencing period poverty. Locals schools can get involved with the initiative by reaching out to Kickstart For Kids to start receiving sanitary products for students in need.

Out-rawr-geously good time

Enjoy the final iteration of Night Lab of the year at the South Australian Museum on Friday, November 25 with Night Lab: Let’s Get Prehysterical. The evening will celebrate all forms of prehistoric life with night talks, hands-on activities, performances and live music. Enjoy a drink on entry and wear your finest dinosaur dress up for the chance to win the costume contest.

Something new

Exhibition Recent Acquisitions will be opening on Saturday, November 26 at the Art Gallery of South Australia. Showcasing recent acquisitions in painting, printmaking and sculpture, the exhibition considers landscape as a form of representation deeply embedded in questions of identity and belonging. The exhibition questions if landscape is an exhausted genre, or if it can express a new way of being that is reconciled with the past.
