What’s On: CheeseFest, OzAsia Festival and buds bursting on the vines

Indulge your senses in Adelaide this weekend with CheeseFest, OzAsia and Budburst, or take a trip out of the city and see what Riverlation Wine and Food Festival has to offer.

Say cheese

CheeseFest will be showcasing the finest cheeses, food producers, chefs and beverages from across South Australia in Rymill Park from Friday, October 22 to Sunday, October 24. The festival will be opening on Friday evening with a twilight session of live music, the Never Never G&T bar, the beer and cider garden, burrata bar, halloumi bar and delicacies from a carefully curated selection of Adelaide restaurants. The demo stage will be heating up with some of South Australia’s best-known food personalities cooking up a storm and demonstrating the tricks of the trade on Saturday and Sunday. With more than 50 food and beverage stalls and pop-up bars, there will be something for every taste to indulge in.

Essence of Asia

Prepare for three weeks of theatre, dance, music, visual arts, literature, film, food and cultural events from across Asia and Australia as OzAsia returns in full swing from Thursday, October 21 to Sunday, November 7. Adelaide will be illuminated on the opening weekend of the festival with the Moon Lantern Trail, as the interactive spectacle guides audiences through the stories, histories and traditions of Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations. The Lucky Dumpling Market will be bringing the enticing sounds and smells of Asia’s bustling street markets to Elder Park with food vendors cooking up authentic cuisine, spectacular desserts, bubble tea, and Japanese sake alongside premium South Australian beers and wine. Enjoy the sounds of Lucky Beats as you roam the marketplace as some of OzAsia’s best performers take on the stage with live music for all to enjoy.

Revel in the Riverland

Celebrate the diverse offerings of the Riverland with Riverlation Wine & Food Festival from Friday, October 22 to Sunday, October 24. The festival will be opening with the inaugural Riverlation Gala Degustation Dinner at the Riverland Wine Centre, a 5-course dinner set under the stars on the banks of the Pike River. The weekend days will be filled with programs spanning the entire region with cellar doors and venues hosting events showcasing an abundance of great wine, delicious fare, and some truly entertaining tales about the Riverland.

Shirazaganza

On Thursday, October 21, Seafire on the Marina will be partnering with Mollydooker Wines to celebrate all things Shiraz with their “Shirazaganza” to host an intimate long-table wine dinner. Guests will be treated to a six-course meal, each paired with a complimentary glass of MollyDooker’s finest red. The evening begins with a glass of Mollydooker’s refreshing Sparkling Verdelho, followed by five of their best shiraz including Miss Molly Sparkling, Boxer, Blue Eyed Boy, Carnival of Love and Velvet Glove.

Giddy-up

Celebrate Moonee Valley’s biggest Spring Carnival Day from Adelaide as the Morphettville Racecourse showcases Cox Plate on the big screens. On Saturday, October 24, follow the racing action live as you enjoy some of the best food and wine South Australia has to offer. Gather your friends and enjoy a top-quality day at the races soaking up the springtime sunshine.

A taste of Germany

As the warm weather arrives and the buds begin to burst, The Lyndoch Community Committee is getting ready to present a German-themed Budburst event Saturday, October 23. Hahndorf Music accordionists, Heidi and Herman will be performing from their extensive classic repertoire of German tunes as the Williamstown Men’s Shed gets bratwurst sizzling on the barbeque. Embrace the first drops of the season as Kies pours an abundance of their fine wine to accompany the upbeat, German tunes.

Where art thou Shakespeare

Take a trip back in time and experience Shakespeare live as Butterfly Theatre presents the intimate show Shakespeare in the Forest this Saturday, October 23 as part of the 2021 Nature Festival. Spend an hour listening to Shakespeare’s finest songs, sonnets and speeches in the stunning woodland setting of Sinclair Gully Winery. Prepare yourself a picnic and bask beneath the moonlight with a glass of wine in hand as the cellar door opens for this magical evening.
