Indulge in South Australia

Cellar Door Fest’s Winter Edit will be hosted on July 8 and 9 at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Embrace all the regions have to offer with a selection of South Australia’s wineries, distilleries and food producers coming together in the heart of the Adelaide CBD. Spend the weekend enjoying tastings and indulging in South Australian gourmet produce alongside live music and entertainment. If you love cheese as much as you love wine, be sure to get a Cheese Lovers ticket for tasty cheese goodies to pair with your wines.

Winter wanders

Peruse a wonderland of locally-made market delights at the Winter Gathered Design Market on July 9 and 10 at the Torrens Parade Ground. Enjoy a weekend of shopping as more than 100 South Australian designers and makers showcase their wares alongside pop-up food and wine bars. Local artisans will share their skills with creative workshops on painting, pottery, flower arranging and tea blending. Enjoy the warmth of the heated venue and undercover dining area with a tantalising range of food and hot drinks to help stay toasty.

Prowling the grounds

A nocturnal adventure at the Adelaide Zoo begins this Thursday, July 7 as Illuminate Adelaide presents Light Creatures until Sunday, July 31. Light Creatures is a celebration of conservation, allowing guests to explore the zoo after dark and encounter immersive experiences, incredible lanterns and interactive performances. Cahaya, a larger-than-life glowing tiger, will be prowling the zoo grounds in addition to appearances from the zoo’s own nocturnal residents.

Multicultural festivities

Celebrate multiculturalism with the Adelaide Eid Festival at the Adelaide Showground on July 9 and 10. Eid Festival celebrates one of two important Muslim occasions in the year: Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha. Enjoy a variety of Turkish, Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakistani cuisines from local food trucks or browse an abundance of stalls offering fashions, home decor, henna and face painting. Live entertainment and show rides will add to the day of family fun.

Relive the Renaissance

Lose yourself in an AI driven multisensory experience from the Renaissance masterpieces to the mysteries of the universe with Wisdom of AI Light by Ouchhh Studio. Using Artificial Intelligence and projection techniques, Ouchhh Studio, NASA and CERN have collaborated to create an immersive experience of astounding visuals and classical musical compositions. Wisdom of AI will be on at the Illuminate Pavilion from July 13 to 31.

Hundreds of faces

From July 9 to October 3, the Art Gallery of South Australia will be exhibiting Archie 100: A Century of the Archibald Prize. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Archibald Prize, the exhibition explores the history of Australia’s most prestigious portrait award. Arranged thematically, the exhibition includes works from collections across Australia and features paintings by Australian artists including William Dobell, Wendy Sharpe and Ben Quilty.

Dance of the dingo

Wild Dog is an immersive exhibition exploring the importance of one of Australia’s most misunderstood cultural symbols – the dingo. Presented as part of Tarnanthi and hosted at Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute, the exhibition will run from July 15 to August 21. The exhibition will feature film, animation, puppetry, dance and song to explore the cultural significance of the dingo. A collaboration of multiple cultures and art forms that carry 60,000 years of oral storytelling, Wild Dog is a visceral multi-media event for people of all ages.

Giddy up

The City of Port Augusta Cup will take place on Sunday, July 10 at the Port Augusta Racing Club. Festivities will begin on Saturday, July 9 with the Cup Eve Dinner, boasting an entertaining evening of raffles, auctions, live entertainment and a three-course dinner. Don your field fashions and prepare for a full day of races starting at 10.30am on the Sunday. Upgrade your day to a private trackside marquee with unobstructed views, catering and bar access.

Outstanding orchestrations

Book your tickets now for Sketches and Orchestrationsa celebration of the classical guitar featuring Xuefei Yang, the Riverside Guitar Ensemble and the Adelaide Guitar Festival Orchestra. Playing at Her Majesty’s Theatre on Friday, July 22, Sketches and Orchestrations is a unique performance showing for one night only as part of the 2022 Adelaide Guitar Festival.
