What’s On: Making the most of Mother’s Day

Spoil mum this Mother’s Day weekend with decadent food, beautiful locations and plenty to drink.

Decadent dishes

Enjoy the finer things in life this Mother’s Day with a meal at Hardy’s Verandah. Spend some quality time with Mum overlooking the Piccadilly Valley, while dining from Hardy’s Verandah’s seasonally-changing degustation menu and treating yourselves to beverages from the multi-award-winning wine selection, sake collection, and creative cocktail menu.

Something sweet

Sate mum’s sweet tooth with InterContinental Adelaide’s decadent High Tea at the Riverside Restaurant. Treat mum to a luxurious afternoon in the heart of the city and indulge in exquisite savouries, house-made scones and delightful desserts. Enjoy a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, or for an extra special glass of bubbly upgrade to G.H. Mumm Champagne. Spend the rest of the afternoon walking the riverbank or floating along the River Torrens on a Captain Jolley‘s paddle boat.

Wines and walks

Indulge in an exquisite three-course lunch for Mother’s Day in the Piccadilly Restaurant at Mount Lofty House. The lunch menu has been crafted by Head Chef, Kaushik Aiyer, and will be served alongside a two and a half-hour package of premium local wines. After lunch, wander the manicured gardens of Mount Lofty House and embrace the exquisite autumn foliage.

Dine in the vines

Treat mum to a bespoke Champagne brunch at the Magill Estate Kitchen this Mother’s Day with a set menu and plenty of Champagne to go around. The shared menu will run from 9am to 12pm and includes granola, pancakes, avocado with potato bread, smoked salmon and waffles with fried chicken and bacon. Relax with a leisurely meal and enjoy the surrounding Penfolds vineyard.

Very high tea

Take mum on a culinary adventure this Mother’s Day at Hotel Indigo. Enjoy a vibrant menu of fresh produce sourced from the Central Market paired with beautiful South Australian wines at Market & Meander, or sip on sparkling wine and enjoy sprawling city views at the Merrymaker Rooftop Bar High Tea.

Climb and dine

Enjoy a unique high tea inspired by native Australian flavours this Mother’s Day at the Oval Hotel. Overlook the Adelaide Oval from the Five Regions Restaurant as you enjoy an afternoon of sweet and savoury treats alongside free-flowing Pol Roger Champagne. To make the day even more memorable, take mum on the Adelaide Oval RoofClimb and spend two hours soaking in 360-degree views of Adelaide and beyond.

High G&Tea

For gin-loving mums, Prohibition Liquor Co will be hosting a Mother’s Day High Tea with pots of G&Tea to accompany a delicious high tea tower to share with your mum, auntie or special someone. Each high tea tower will be packed with savoury bites, scones with jam and cream, and tasty desserts. For mum’s designated driver and under 18’s, delicious mocktails will be available. The high tea will ne on offer from 11:30am to 2pm at Prohibition Liquor Co on Gilbert Street.

Sip on sparkling

Enjoy a decadent “feed me” brunch at the National Wine Centre this Mother’s Day. Sip a glass of sparkling on arrival as you prepare to be served a special selection of fine foods. After brunch, enjoy a drink on the lawns while you enjoy live music from 2pm to 5pm, or spend some quality time with mum wandering the nearby Botanic Gardens.

Sweet selection

Spoil mum with a beautiful brunch at The Banksia Tree Cafe in Port Adelaide. Enjoy a refreshing mimosa on arrival and prepare to tuck into a selection of sweets, savoury pastries, sandwiches and scones to celebrate Mother’s Day. A live set will be performed by Lizzie Coke Music as you enjoy a morning of locally-sourced food and coffee.
