What’s on: Music, orchids, and silo art

There's music for every taste happening around Adelaide this weekend, as well as orchids on show and a silo art celebration.

Packing a punch

Grammy award-winning five-piece Punch Brothers return to the Adelaide Guitar Festival with a performance at the Woodville Town Hall on July 14. The Punch Brothers return with their celebrated new release All Ashore — their fifth studio album, which won the 2019 Grammy for Folk Album of the year for the US acoustic quintet. These icons of American music seamlessly marry the boozy headiness of bluegrass with the spirit of a great rock band and the virtuosity of a world-class chamber ensemble.

Fitting finale

Nicholas Carter presents his final Master Series for the year in his official capacity as Principal Conductor, when Adelaide Symphony Orchestra presents Master Series 5: Faith and Beauty at the Adelaide Town Hall on July 12 and 13. The sweet sound of Grace Clifford’s violin is not to be missed. Filled with long, singable melodies, Antonín Dvořák’s Volin Concerto will be followed by Bruckner’s adventurous Fifth Symphony. Not until the final pages does everything come together in an astonishing finale.
