Celebrating solstice

Rik’s Grill will be serving up tasty eats from their food van while Staazi & Co cook up a vegan feast. The Uraidla Red Beer Truck will be offering Uraidla beer and mulled wine to warm up body and soul. There will be two acoustic musicians performing alongside roving fire twirlers to keep the energy up throughout this fun, festive evening.

Challenging run

On Sunday, June 26, the 40th Pichi Richi Marathon will take place through the picturesque Pichi Richi Pass along the Flinders Ranges Way between Port Augusta and Quorn. Competitors can choose to walk, run or jog at their own pace, with various marathons throughout the day. All options will finish at the Quorn Oval complex where participants can mingle and enjoy a barbeque. Registrations close on Monday, June 20.

Magical markets

Prepare for a magical Saturday, June 25 as the Spellbound Street Party takes over the Queen’s Theatre on Playhouse Lane. Spend the day perusing the Harry Potter-inspired magical market selling everything from poultices and potions to crystals and wands before dancing the night away at the Wizard World Rave. There will be butterbeer and polyjuice potion to wash down an abundance of food offerings and keep your energy levels up throughout the magical day.

Next generation

Presented by the Adelaide Festival Centre as part of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Class of Cabaret has given a voice to the next generation of cabaret stars for more than a decade. The program supports students as they hone their craft and bring new vitality to the Arts. Talented senior students from across South Australia will share their stories on Saturday, June 25 through captivating musical performances at the Dunstan Playhouse. Class of Cabaret promises a moving and joyful show as the group takes you on a journey through their experiences.

Embracing friendship

The Centenarian Portrait Project by Teenagers is a community arts concept presented by Embraced. The project is designed to promote intergenerational friendships and fight negative attitudes towards ageing. One hundred teenage artists will be paired with 100 centenarians, with the artists visiting their subject multiple times to sketch, take photos and perhaps play the occasional game of dominos. The artists then return to their studios to complete their artwork. The portraits will be displayed in an exhibition at The Drill Hall from June 21 to 30, before being gifted to the subject as a keepsake.
