The Royal Adelaide Show is back, bigger and better than ever. With so much to see and do, plan your visit before you go to make the most of your day.

The Adelaide Showgrounds come alive today for the Royal Adelaide Show, until September 8. It’s a big year, with some significant milestones, including 50 years of the Ferris wheel, 90 years of the CWA and 100 years of the Angus Society of Australia, which is the feature breed for beef cattle this year.

There will be a full entertainment program over the 10 days with exhibitions, food, carnival attractions, showbags and fireworks.

The competition is on, with every kind of talent you can think of being judged – chocolate cake-making, wood-chopping, handicrafts and horticulture. For the first time, there will be sections for honey crackles and even gaming and coding.

Animal-lovers will have plenty to see, with everything from birds, cats, dogs and guinea pigs to all sorts of farm animals on display.

Foodies won’t be disappointed; South Australia’s finest bites and sips will be there, including the Taste SA area with dining, education sessions and tastings. Or if you’re a traditionalist who can’t go past Dagwood dogs and hot donuts, there will plenty of those too.

For the little ones, the Kids’ Carnival has a mini pirate ship, inflatable bumper cars and The Enchanted Circus.

If you have not-so-little ones with a streak of adventure, the rides will keep them endlessly entertained. Slow things down with a visit to the Show Museum and explore the lives of our early farmers, gardeners, cooks, creators, animal lovers and wine makers.
