What’s On: Wine Machine, JaumaFest and Big Bash

Enjoy festivals in McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills, or book your tickets as the Adelaide Strikers return to their home deck.

Hit for six

With the Adelaide Strikers now this summer’s reigning WBBL champions, it’s the men’s turn. The Strikers’ BBL side got their season off to a flying start, beating the Sydney Sixers by a whopping 51 runs in front of home fans on December 14, and they return back to their home deck on Tuesday, December 20 taking on the Sydney Thunder. Don’t forget the annual New Year’s Eve match, which will light up Adelaide Oval on Friday, December 31, with the Strikers taking on Melbourne Stars.

Full-bodied line up

Wine Machine will be taking over Serafino Wines on Saturday, December 17 with an exciting musical line-up against the backdrop of McLaren Vale’s picturesque wineries and accompanied by the region’s best gourmet food and wine pairings. Dance your day away where the sea meets the vines as Lime Cordiale, Flight Facilities, San Cisco, Cut Copy, Masked Wolf, Art VS Science, Sumner, Mell Hall, Happiness is Wealth, Jimi the Kween and The Poof Doof Drag Jamboree perform live on stage.

Revealing the unseen

Visit the Adelaide Botanic Garden and embark on a one-kilometre trail around the garden to discover a hidden art exhibition. Open every day until October 2023, Seeing the Invisible is an augmented reality art exhibition where guests of the Gardens can use their phone to reveal invisible artworks hidden within the botanical backdrop. Simply download the app and head to the artwork destinations on the maps to view pieces addressing themes of environment and sustainability. Created by artists from around the globe, many of the works have an interactive element, offering a fun and unique way to explore the space where art, technology and nature intersect.

Christmas spirit

Get into the festive spirit with a Christmas singalong hosted by Tutti Choir at the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Banquet Room on Saturday, December 17. The joyful performance will entertain the entire family with lyrics on screen to enjoy an hour singing Christmas classics and festive favourites.

Sweet as pie

Head to Jauma Farm on December 17 and 18 for JaumaFest – a weekend of live music and family friendly fun. The weekend is meant to be all about fresh produce, but this year’s cherry crop isn’t ready, so ticket holders will get free tickets once the fruit is ready. Head to the Jauma Bar and try some delicious wines while indulging in offerings from local food trucks and listening to live music and deejay sets. Browse the local Christmas market and pick up some presents while the kids enjoy workshops and a visit from Santa Claus.
